“Ignoble, wicked and horrendous” - this is how Speaker of the
House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, described this
morning’s massacre of 30 students and a teacher in northeastern Nigeria.
He urged the security agencies to find the perpetrators.
In
a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public
Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal stated there was no justification for
the dreadful crime.
The speaker expressed sympathy for the
families of the victims and urged Nigerians to be more vigilant and to
help the security agencies with useful information to help secure their
localities.
Mr Tambuwal stated the gains recorded by security
agencies in recent weeks in their battle against terror must continue in
order to ensure that citizens are protected at all times. He reassured
that the National Assembly will, always give necessary support to ensure
that peace and security is restored in all parts of the country.
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday at Government Secondary School, Mamudo, in Potiskum LGA of Yobe State.
