A 20-year-old woman was last weekend arraigned before
an Ikeja Magistrate Court for allegedly conspiring with others now at
large to steal N10 million.
The suspect and others now at large are facing a two-count charge of theft and conspiracy preferred against them by the police.
Police
prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant
and others committed the offence on June 27, 2013, on Victoria Island,
Lagos.
Emuerhi told the court that the defendant who served as a help
to the complainant and madam,, one Adeola Yusuf, conspired with others
to steal N 27, 000.00 cash, gold wristwatch, jewelries, coral beads,
perfume spray, pans and women scarves, all valued N 10, 000, 000.00.
He
told the court that, the offences were punishable under section 409 and
section 285 (1) (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria
2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate B.
O. Osunsanmi granted her bail in the sum of N 100,000.00, with two
sureties and affidavit of means, and adjourned the case to August 1,
2013.
Similarly, three men were also arraigned before an Ikeja
Magistrate Court, for allegedly conspiring with others now at large to
steal of N 6, 600, 000.00.
The suspects, Charles Owum, Fidelis Ayitu
and Bassey Etta, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy, theft and
break & entry preferred against him by the police.
Police
prosecutor, Inspector Sampson Ekikere, told the court that the
defendants committed the offence on February 14, 2013, in the Maryland
area of Lagos.
He said the defendants with intent to commit felony, broke into the room of one Abba Kakudi to steal the N 6, 600, 000.00.
