Kidnapper Set Ablaze By Angry Mob

A middle-aged man suspected to be a kidnapper but who feigned insanity, was on Sunday set ablaze by a mob at Odota area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The suspect was said to have been caught while trying to kidnap a 9-year old child, claimed to be a lorry conductor.
The victim who identified himself as Raimi Wasiu, was quoted as saying he hailed from Osogbo, Osun State capital and also confessed to be a kidnapper alongside seven others.
He added that they worked for a cleric resident around Hajj camp, Ilorin and that hardship led him into the act.
Witnesses said residents of the area have long been suspicious of the man’s activities around Odota bridge, where he allegedly lived in an abandoned building by the roadside.
According to report, the suspect was attacked and beaten by the mob at the abandoned building he resides in, after he beat up a resident who caught him.
One of the witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim was chased from the building towards Eyenkorin and dispossessed of many charms, rings and amulets by his captors.
 It was while he was confessing that the crowd was said to have descended on him with sticks, stones and other dangerous objects before setting him ablaze.
According to the witness, the police was called to the scene but before their arrival, the suspect had already been set ablaze but they took his corpse away.
When contacted, the spokesman of the state police command, Olufemi Fabode (DSP) confirmed the incident.
